Smoking has been made very popular in Pakistan, as you can see from the billboards that line the roads and often I can be seen puffing away as I am talking to my friend. But what is it really like to smoke while on Pakistani roads? Well, is not all bad, there are many nice cafes and bistros that will help you relax and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee without all the harm that smoking can cause. But the one big disadvantage of smoking in Pakistan is that you can't just walk down the street and start lighting cigarettes, which means for a long time you won't be able to enjoy your favorite cigarette (unless you're super brave). You'll be stuck at home, alone, with people you don't know and it's not easy being a nonsmoker.
So we know now that it's not as easy as you may think to quit smoking, but luckily there are ways to reduce the damage that this nasty habit can cause to your body. One way is by giving up the cigarettes and never looking back, which may seem hard when you are surrounded by smokers, but try your best to give it a go, even just for a few minutes. If you don't make it through the day without smoking, then at least try to see what you can do next week. If you want to reduce the harm caused to others around you, then you should at least try to lighten the load of those around you. And here is one way of how do I know if a cigarette lighter is lit, by looking at the lighter itself.
Most cigarette lighters are electronic and have a sensor that turns on when a cigarette is lit. It stops the lighter when the lighter is switched off. It's amazing how many times throughout the day we forget to turn the lights on, especially when we are at work. So take a moment to read the instructions on the lighter before you light it up or at least make a note of it. You would be surprised how often you light up incorrectly!
